Emilia-Romagna, a northern region consisting of the western inland region of Emilia and the eastern seaside region of Romagna, may not be as famous as Tuscany or Venice — but when it comes to culinary treasures, it blows away the rest of the country.

I love Emilia-Romagna. I love the beauty of the towns. I love the people I meet. And most of all, I love the food.. I’ve been three times now, each time longer than the last. By this point, I think I have a pretty good idea what the best food experiences are.

Hear about travel to New York City as the Amateur Traveler talks to Rebecca Shoval from Not Just Tourists NYC about her adopted home in the city that never sleeps.

Why should you go to New York City?

Rebecca says, “I think someone should come to New York for so many reasons. I think it’s this incredibly vibrant place. It exudes life and I find walking around the city, it really just gives you energy. It’s also this vibrant multicultural place where you can really see the way that there’s so much commitment to the city and to the culture and to people really living in something resembling harmony next to each other… or at least ignoring each other and not getting in each other’s business. There are so many different things to do.”

Bread is one food that you cannot and should not miss in Paris. Most boulangeries in Paris are within walking distance of each other. And why not? French bread is heavenly.

I was so excited to return to South Korea.

I haven’t been to many places where I’ve felt such a cohesive blend of old and new, but South Korea is one of them. Steeped with 5000 years of culture and history, but integrated with modern music, technology, and infrastructure, it’s a country that surprised and delighted me at every turn.

Turkey is one of the most underrated countries in the world.
Hardly anybody mentions it when they talk about their favourite spots in Europe or Asia, but to me, it has so much to offer its visitors.

Istanbul is a phenomenal city, with mosques scattered throughout the skyline, an incredible food scene, and so much history to delve into. The ruins of Ephesus are some of the most impressive I’ve seen and exploring the site of Troy was breathtaking. I even chartered a yacht for 10 days along the coastline of Turkey and saw some of the most beautiful, untouched parts of the country.

Turkey’s home to some breathtaking landscapes, too — whether it’s taking a hot air balloon ride at sunrise through Cappadocia or splashing through the other-worldly salt pools of Pamukkale. On top of that, you’ve got some incredible cuisine to delve into — Turkish breakfasts are my favourite on the planet — and friendly locals to get to know.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned the beaches.

Ecuador is one of the gems of South America. It’s far smaller than the countries that surround it too, so it’s perfect for a shorter trip. If there’s one thing that you should go to Ecuador for, it’s the nature.

There is such a bounty of landscapes considering the country’s size, from the Amazon Rainforest to the Galapagos Islands and the staggering Andes Mountains that run through the country, to the gorgeous Pacific Coastline. It’s not surprising then that Ecuador is a top destination for ecotourism.

Valladolid is a sleepy pueblo magico (magic town) in the Yucatan, known for it’s authentic Mexican street vibe, its wealth of cenotes and its convenient distance to Chichen Itza. It’s a humble and cozy town that I didn’t immediately fall in love with, but that doesn’t mean you won’t. In this Valladolid travel guide, I’m sharing best things to do in Valladolid and why it makes a great town stay in for a few days...

Hear about travel to Albania as the Amateur Traveler talks to Norm Bour from travelyounger.com about the country where they spent nearly 6 months as expats.

Why should you go to Albania?

Norm says,

“Travel is back. I think anyone who’s listening to this is either a wannabe or a real traveler, and unfortunately, along with the fact that travel is back comes everything that goes with it, including the crowds and including the fact that everything is [more expensive]. There are certain countries, primarily Eastern Europe where the affordability factor is really strong. Turkey being one where we spent about eight or nine months, and Albania being the second one.”

Hear about travel to Lake Garda and the Verona Countryside as the Amateur Traveler talks to Valeria Biasi from Verona Tours about the region she calls home.

Why should someone visit the Verona area?

Valeria says, “Verona is somehow unexpected as a city. I know you covered Verona City already in a couple of your episodes, but in spite of that Verona is still unexpected. We don’t have the icons. I always say we don’t have the David by Michelangelo. We don’t have the dome of St. Peter in Rome, but we are a very Italian city. With all the layers of the history and the geography and the lifestyle.”

Should I Go to Lebanon? Is Lebanon Safe? – are the most common questions typed in Google when one thinks of traveling there. Unfortunately, many people believe that safety in Lebanon is still an issue.

In the past, years ago, Lebanon was a huge tourist destination for beach life in the summer and ski trips in the winter. Due to the political and economic unrest of the country and its neighbors, the number of tourists has declined.

When a tourist says ‘I’m going to Lebanon’, other people will usually consider it brave. When I was heading to Lebanon, my friends kept saying things like ‘stay safe’, ‘be careful’.
