Emilia-Romagna, a northern region consisting of the western inland region of Emilia and the eastern seaside region of Romagna, may not be as famous as Tuscany or Venice — but when it comes to culinary treasures, it blows away the rest of the country.

I love Emilia-Romagna. I love the beauty of the towns. I love the people I meet. And most of all, I love the food.. I’ve been three times now, each time longer than the last. By this point, I think I have a pretty good idea what the best food experiences are.

Turkey has been one of the most popular options for a holiday package over the last few years. However, you might not want to buy an expensive holiday package and instead pursue a road trip around Turkey on your own by creating your own Turkey itinerary.

Don’t worry if you don’t have much time, as I’ve seen the most popular spots in the country in just 10 days. Here I can tell you how you can do it yourself. I’ve done it a few times and let me tell you that it’s perfectly safe:

When booking your flights to Turkey you might consider getting to Cappadocia first and returning from Istanbul, instead of getting a return flight to Istanbul (alternatively booking a domestic flight separately). Arranging your trip this way can save you a lot of time on driving.

Turkey’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty make it an enticing destination for all types of travelers. While most people tend to focus their attention on Istanbul to take in sites like the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Grand Bazaar, or possibly plan a trip to Cappadocia to observe the magical fairy chimneys from a hot air balloon, there are countless destinations scattered throughout this fascinating country to explore.

Turkey’s thousands of miles of coastline dotted with numerous ports have made touring the country by way of cruise ship an easy and affordable option. Thanks to great Europe cruise deals, you can visit cruise ship ports located in some of the incredible seaside cities such as Kuşadası, Izmir, Marmaris, Bodrum, and Antalya.

Many of these seaside towns offer a wide range of attractions for travelers such as the Ephesus ruins near Kuşadası or arranging a day trip excursion to places like Pamukkale and Hierapolis.

Hear about travel to Albania as the Amateur Traveler talks to Norm Bour from about the country where they spent nearly 6 months as expats.

Why should you go to Albania?

Norm says,

“Travel is back. I think anyone who’s listening to this is either a wannabe or a real traveler, and unfortunately, along with the fact that travel is back comes everything that goes with it, including the crowds and including the fact that everything is [more expensive]. There are certain countries, primarily Eastern Europe where the affordability factor is really strong. Turkey being one where we spent about eight or nine months, and Albania being the second one.”

Japan is one of the best countries for food, not just in Asia, but in the world. The fact that Japan trails only France in number of Michelin stars speaks for itself.

Unlike many travel bloggers, we don’t have a desire to visit every country in the world but we do intend to visit every prefecture in Japan, and a lot of that has to do with our love for traditional Japanese food culture. If the cost of living weren’t so high, we’d actually love to live in Japan. That would be a dream!

Many travelers typically pick Tokyo as a ‘base camp’ for their first trip to Japan, and it’s no surprise why.

The capital of Japan is a vibrant hub of things to do, from walking across the bustling Shibuya Crossing to visiting Tokyo Skytree, getting lost in the lights of Akihabara, or seeing ancient traditions come to life at one of the many shrines around the city.

While you could spend years exploring Tokyo, there’s an even bigger world waiting for you outside of the capital.

Hear about travel to the island of Grenada in the West Indies as the Amateur Traveler talks to Caleb Sedam about the tropical paradise where he recently finished med school.

Caleb says, “Besides being a medical student if you want to go to Grenada, there’s a couple of reasons I would suggest. When I think about it, I think about it as more authentic. People can think of places like Jamaica or Cancun, which are full of resorts and crowded with people. But Grenada, while it is a tourist destination, it’s not very crowded and it doesn’t have that same kind of scene as a place you would see in Cozumel or Cancun. So I feel like it’s more authentic. It’s more pure Caribbean than some of the big touristy destinations.”

Wellness retreats have been rising in popularity over the last few years as people put more focus on trying to better themselves holistically. During the pandemic, when lockdown restrictions were at their highest, there was an increase in small-group retreats as reported by Travel Weekly. The number of people in these retreats can range anywhere from 10 to 50, with most establishments requiring a negative COVID test. As borders start to open once more and lockdown restrictions are lifted in different areas, it is expected that there will be a rise in retreat-goers.
