From Kyoto, we took 2 trains up to Takayama, the gateway to the Japanese Northern Alps. We picked this town for its historic feel and famous food, and the opportunity to experience what is it like to be in a snow globe!

Watch the vlog as we fill our tummies with delicious food, visit historical sites including Sanmachi and Hida no Sato folk village, as well as the Light Up Shirakawa-go event, the highlight of our Takayama trip.
