You have the dream trip planned for a week in Ireland finally coming up, and now all you have to do is figure out where to go. Your first thought might be, “I have to see Dublin! It’s the capital and the heart of the country!”

You’re right, it is the capital, but it is definitely not the beating heart of Ireland. For that, you have to get away from Dublin. Go out into Ireland’s beautiful and sometimes mysterious countryside to experience its everything it has to offer. It’s here where you’ll get up close with wild coastlines, mystical ruins, green landscapes, world-famous trad music, cozy towns and, of course, all the Guinness-soaked pubs you can handle.

But where exactly should you go with your week in Ireland, then? You can’t cover a ton of space in only one week. Don’t worry, I have you covered. In this guide, I’ll take you to my three favorite stops in Ireland. By the time you’re done, they’re likely to become your favorites, too!

If you’re looking for the perfect winter wonderland destination, look no further than Finland.

We’ve had some incredible trips to Finland in winter. It was the first place I saw the Northern Lights, the snowy landscapes are spectacular, and there are loads of fantastic winter activities to choose from.

Finland is a fairly big country though, so you might be wondering how best to spend your time here when visiting in winter. Well, wonder no more. With our detailed 1 week Finland itinerary we’ve got you covered.

This itinerary will have you visiting many of the highlights of Finland, including Finnish Lapland and the capital city of Helsinki. It will take you deep into the Arctic Circle, give you the chance to sleep in a glass igloo, and even have you meeting Santa himself.

We’ve also put this itinerary together to offer you flexible transport options. Whilst we generally prefer to hire a car and self-drive, we appreciate not everyone will be comfortable driving in Finland in winter. So this itinerary can be done with or without a car.

In terms of time, we’ve put this guide together for around a week in Finland. We think this is a good length of time to visit Finland in winter.

Of course, you can visit for as long or short a time as you want, but if you are hoping to experience phenomenon like the Northern Lights, giving yourself a bit of extra time will significantly increase the chances of experiencing them.

El Nido is seriously the best. Due to its recent Instagram hype I was a little hesitant on if it was as good as the photos or if they were heavily edited, but it blew me away. The water color, coral reefs, and limestone mountains are stunning. Add to the mix super friendly people and a trendy downtown and you’ve got one of our new favorite destinations.

Ireland is one of those travel destinations where it feels like you have one big decision to make when you are planning out your travel itinerary: rent a car or join an organized tour the whole time. I went with the third option of doing some independent travel using trains and buses to get around and adding in some organized day tours.

I love road trips and I love Ireland. Did I want to drive there? Not even a little bit. Narrow roads, extra costs for insurance, and having to worry about driving on the other side of the road? No thanks. So for peace of mind, I planned just over a week in Ireland car-free.

Today’s epic post is a one week Ireland itinerary and it’s by Sian from Ireland Before you Die. Ireland is such an amazing place for a road trip so I’m really excited to share this action packed itinerary! I actually did a similar solo road trip a couple of years ago so I’ve left some links below if you’d like to read more!

From enjoying a pint of Guinness in Dublin to taking in the sights of the Wild Atlantic Way, you can see a lot with just seven days in Ireland. Here is our one week Ireland itinerary.

At only 32,599 square miles (for reference, the state of Indiana is 35,910 square miles), Ireland’s compact size makes it entirely possible to explore the highlights of the Emerald Isle in just one week, as long as you are up for a jam-packed week of activities and a lot of driving.

While extending your stay will allow you to explore at a much slower pace and afford you the opportunity to explore Ireland’s hidden gems, there is still plenty you can do if you’re restricted to just seven days.

So, if you’re wondering how to make the most of your seven days in Ireland, here is our suggestion for a one week Ireland itinerary.

The Republic of Ireland is a beautiful country with a fascinating history, super-friendly people, and SO much to see and do. I had 2 weeks in Ireland to explore by car and was determined to make the most of the time.

From bumpy boat trips to islands inhabited only by seals, birds and the brutal Irish weather to the exploration of UNESCO Geoparks and dramatic coast paths high above the Atlantic Ocean, there’s something to delight everyone.

The Emerald Isle is a paradise of idyllic rolling farmland, rugged coastlines, manicured homesteads, historic castles, and an unassuming and friendly population. This 10 day Ireland itinerary will help you navigate the small but vibrant island and see all of the highlights in a short amount of time.

Once upon a time, Ireland was a country that everyone wanted to leave – it had no wealth, no political freedom, no prospects. But times have certainly changed, for the Ireland of today is Europe’s wealthiest and fastest growing nation. Free from its economic and political woes of the past, Ireland’s natural charms are able to shine through. Its pristine emerald countryside, rugged and wild coastlines, irresistible foot-tapping music, and a rich spiritual history, from the Druids at Newgrange to the monks at Glendalough – the Ireland of today is a magical island that enchants everyone who visits.

As an Irish dancer and with a last name like “McKneely,” Ireland was the first country I ever wanted to visit. I never would have guessed that I’d travel to far flung places like Egypt before setting foot on Ireland’s green shore, but no matter – I finally made it happen! After 10 days roadtripping around this small but spectacular island, I can affirm that it lives up to the hype. To help you plan your own adventure, here’s a perfect 10 day Ireland itinerary to help you make the most of your time there.

Ireland was always one of those European vacations that I thought “I’ll get to it eventually.” It didn’t feel like a big priority, because it is a destination that is easily accessible and navigable at any age or lifestyle. But when the opportunity to visit Ireland presented itself in 2022, I jumped on it! And wow am I happy I did, because Ireland turned out to be one of those rare places that truly surprised me. I really loved my 7 day trip in Ireland!

Since my first visit to Ireland in 2022, I have returned 5 more times as a trip leader and tour guide. I am here to share all my insider tips with you in this 7 day itinerary for Ireland.

There is so much to love about the Emerald Isle! In the Irish language, there is a common greeting which says Cead Mile Failte. It translates as ‘a hundred thousand welcomes,’ which I find to be a rather fitting phrase for Ireland.

You will feel welcome and invited from the second you arrive because Irish people are incredibly friendly and hospitable! Rolling green hills, lively young cities, a loveable pub culture, and jaw-dropping scenery are just a few of things you’ll love about Ireland. Ireland is really a place that has a hundred thousand reasons to visit.

I’ve never met anyone who’s done a road trip in Ireland and not loved it. After spending 2 weeks in Ireland, I am now one of those people.

My 2 week road trip in Ireland had it all: postcard-worthy landscapes, fascinating ancient sites, evocative ruins, gratifying outdoor adventures, colourful small towns, delicious food, lively music, fun legends and welcoming, friendly locals.

There was only one thing missing- good weather.

No, you definitely don’t go to Ireland for the weather. In late September/early October I experienced a lot of rain, strong winds, even some hail.

But with all that rain came some of the prettiest rainbows, arching over a patchwork of green fields and rugged coastlines. I couldn’t help but smile because that is exactly what I was hoping Ireland would look like!

The itinerary I put together for my solo road trip around Ireland had a specific theme- beautiful landscapes, outdoor activities and archaeological sites.

If you’re interested in Ireland’s historic sites and diverse landscapes, then this itinerary should be a good source of inspiration. I hope it helps you plan your own 2 week road trip in Ireland!

Are you itching to visit the Emerald Isle but only have a week to explore? It’s a relatively small country, so it’s doable. This Ireland itinerary for 7 days will show you how to enjoy the natural beauty of the countryside and lively Irish culture in a one-week Ireland road trip.

For most travelers, starting and ending your Irish road trip at Dublin Airport makes logical (and financial) sense. But for those who can start their trip in Dublin and end it at Shannon Airport, there are other destinations in this beautiful country you can squeeze into your 7-day Ireland itinerary.

My detailed guide below suggests two different routes for both options. Either way, you’ll have an epic and memorable time in Ireland! It’s one of my favorite countries! Keep in mind, this itinerary does not take into account travel time, most flights from the US will depart in the evening and arrive the next morning.

As part of our annual, what’s a place that is cheap to fly to from the US and easy to do within 4 days trip, we stumbled across Ireland. People always rave about Ireland’s raw beauty, but pictures didn’t necessarily sway me. It was always grey and a lot of wet, dark hills and fields. What is this “raw beauty” people keep referring to that makes it one of the most beautiful places in the world? It’s hard to describe. Once there, you realize what everyone means. It’s not something that can be put into words, it’s something that you need to see for yourself to understand. If you’re not convinced, like I wasn’t, all it takes is a quick 4 days in Ireland to get a taste of this island (and yes – Ireland is an island!). It’s non-committal, it’s easy, and it’ll have you swayed to visit again.

The below is an example of an iconic, standard, first-timers 4 days in Ireland. It’s a travel itinerary that gives you a taste of city, coast and countryside manors filled with castles and mountains. It gives you a taste of everything in Ireland, which is why I like this itinerary so much.

We were fortunate enough to spend 16 days travelling around all of Ireland in June and July 2019.

We designed a route, rented a campervan and set off on what proved to be a pretty epic journey!

Our route took us around the entire country, starting and ending just outside Dublin.

As Cazzy is from Ireland herself, we have already visited a number of Northern Ireland’s best sites over the years.

However, neither of us were prepared for just how breathtakingly beautiful the rest of Ireland is; and it’s safe to say that our Ireland vacation is one of the best adventures we have been on to date.

If you’re planning a trip to Ireland this year (which you 100% should be) then hopefully this full-on Ireland travel guide will help you with everything you need to know.

Including the best places to visit right through to some of our favourite Ireland travel tips.

Whether you are travelling to Ireland alone, or backpacking with a group of friends, this should be a one stop Ireland guide to help you on your way.

Ireland runs in my veins – quite literally, considering that my ancestry is 25% Irish. I've been to the country several times, and even celebrated a birthday once in Dublin. But one major item on my Ireland bucket list remained unchecked until recently: going on an Ireland road trip.

Along with believing that Ireland is the perfect destination for a family vacation, I also think that Ireland is a great destination for a road trip. It's a relatively small country with short driving times, and there are interesting things to see and do around every bend.

I finally got the chance to take my dream Ireland road trip with my mom and sister. And, while the tiny roads did make me nervous at times, I absolutely loved the overall experience and highly recommend it as the best way to explore Ireland.

If you're thinking that you might want to plan an Ireland road trip of your own, here's a great 10-day itinerary you can feel free to use!

This itinerary hits up a lot of the highlights on the Emerald Isle, but also includes some cool spots that you may not have heard of before.

Highlights of this Ireland itinerary include:

Time to explore the Irish capital of Dublin
Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains
Touring the crystal factory in Waterford
Visiting the Rock of Cashel
Soaking up Titanic history in Cobh
Kissing the Blarney Stone
Driving the Ring of Kerry or Dingle Peninsula
Seeing the Cliffs of Moher
Exploring Westport and Galway
Staying in a castle
And more!

For myself and many other travelers, El Nido Palawan island was the place that put the Philippines on the world map (and our bucket lists).

El Nido’s exotic turquoise lagoons and jagged limestone rocks are way too unique and beautiful to miss, and the photo ops here are limitless.

It’s rare that you’ll see this place missing from a travel blog or a list of the best islands in the world, and rightfully so. All of the beaches and island hopping tours in El Nido Palawan are top notch.

Best of all, El Nido is quite affordable, and there are high quality hotels and restaurants here to suit every budget and type of traveler, from backpacker to luxury seeker.

This El Nido travel guide will give you some details on how to get there, what to do, where to stay, best beaches of El Nido, top El Nido sunset spots, and all about how to experience this paradise of the Philippines yourself!

Planning a trip to Ireland can be a lengthy task. One that leaves many scratching their head or pulling their hair out. But, lucky for you, I’ve come to your rescue. Hi, I’m Laura, your local guide. It’s my goal to make your trip to Ireland as carefree as possible. I love seeing visitors fall in love with my home country. Ireland is a magical place, and I understand just how much the trip means to you. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and I can’t wait to help you plan it. Now, let’s go on a road trip, an Ireland 7 day itinerary exploring the countries most iconic cliffs, beautiful national parks and we will even take a journey out to one of Ireland’s most scenic islands.

But first, we need to address the big question.

IS 7 DAYS IN IRELAND ENOUGH TIME?

To put it simply, no. 7 days is not nearly enough to see all there is to do in Ireland. In fact, a whole month would only allow you to scratch the service of what the country has to offer. However, with that being said, oftentimes one week in Ireland is all most tourists have. And, while it’s not a huge amount of time, it is enough to see some of the countries major highlights.

Have you been dreaming of a bucket list journey around Ireland that also includes Northern Ireland’s captivating landscapes? Maybe you’d like to witness the rugged beauty of the Cliffs of Moher before heading north to visit the Giant’s Causeway? If all this is true, below I’m sharing my own 10 day road trip itinerary around Ireland that covers all these experiences and more.

Adding Northern Ireland did make this itinerary a bit faster-paced than what I normally prefer. However, we weren’t shorted on any of the Emerald Isle’s cultural richness, with each day revealing a new colorful seaside village or charming road through the sheep-covered countryside. I still reminisce about staying in super cozy cottages, holding baby lambs, and admiring dramatic coastal cliffs.

Are you ready to embark on your own unforgettable 10-day Ireland road trip? Let’s get into it!

Every time someone asks me what my favorite country is, Ireland is always at the top of the list. It’s such a magical, special place. There’s a feeling of acceptance and simplicity combined with excitement and jovial cheer. I love love love Dublin, and I could totally see myself living there. But I also love the quiet countryside. Roadtripping through Ireland is absolutely essential to truly grasp the spirit of the country. The first time I drove through the country, I only had a week and it definitely wasn’t enough. So this time, I made sure I added a few days and zeroed in on the most important things I wanted to do for our 10 day Ireland itinerary. Although this was my third visit, it was Ryan’s first, so I put together an itinerary that showcases all the musts, but also a few things we discovered along the way.

Now that Indonesia is my second home (and my wife’s actual home!), I plan to keep this guide updated as we find more of the best hikes in Indonesia. Many years ago, I was having a lunch meeting with a Frenchman who had been living in Shanghai for over two decades. We were talking about travel and he told me that the most incredible sight he had ever seen were the temples in Bagan. He had gone up in a hot air balloon and was awestruck by the landscape of Buddhist temples as far as the eye could see.

That conversation from over a decade ago seared a mental image in my brain. I needed to see this ocean of temples for myself so when I was sent to Yangon on a project, I made sure to spend a few days in Bagan.

As I had hoped, the Frenchman wasn’t exaggerating nor was he speaking in metaphors. Bagan had thousands of ancient temples spread out over a vast plain, literally as far as the eye could see. It was spectacular.

Glacier hiking offers a more adventurous spin on traditional hiking and can be done on every continent except for Australia. Whether you love nature, a physical challenge, or simply being outdoors, glacier hiking is a great way to feed your sense of adventure.

The sheer scale, beauty, and uniqueness of glaciers make the experience of hiking on them unforgettable. It’s an activity that often takes you out of your comfort zone and can provide a sense of accomplishment. Glacier hiking usually involves using specialised equipment and often requires exhilarating transport to reach them such scenic helicopter rides.

So now that I’ve piqued your interest, you may be asking where to start searching for glacier hiking experiences. My answer would be to start in New Zealand. While Australia may not have any glaciers, its neighbour has numerous that are “Sweet as, bru!”

South Africa sits high on the bucket list of most adventurous travelers.
It’s a wonderful country; one that that everyone should aim experience at least once in their lives (although most, like me, end up coming back for more).

Located at the southern tip of Africa (the clue’s in the name!), South Africa offers up a fascinating blend of culture and history, wild animals and exquisite landscapes, friendly people and delicious food, creating what Nelson Mandela called a Rainbow Nation.

Most tourists head straight to Cape Town, chasing the city’s vibrant sunsets, bright-white beaches, world-class food scene, and begging-to-be-hiked mountains. While I’m arguably Cape Town’s biggest fan, there’s so many other places worth exploring in South Africa.

Gibraltar is a tiny little dot of a place, just 2.6 square miles (6.8 square kilometers) in size. Considering its diminutive area, you’d be forgiven for thinking that there couldn’t possibly be much to do the British Overseas Territory, but you’d be wrong...

Gibraltar’s manmade points of interest are more than matched by the unique natural features that make it such a curiosity. First-time visitors are often surprised by just how impressive the famous Rock is when first confronted by the limestone promontory – almost as surprised as they are to learn that it is home to Europe’s only wild monkey population. The surrounding waters, meanwhile, are filled with not one but three different species of dolphin, which frolic in the sea all year round.

Located in one of the most southern parts of Spain, this bastion of Britishness seems like a complete anomaly in the region, which is just one more reason to set aside a day or two to visit the strange little city.
